DOW Caustic Soda Solution

Effects of Freezing and Thawing of Caustic Soda Solution

Freezing and thawing does not affect the stated specification limits of caustic soda solution, once the material has returned to a liquid state. As caustic soda solution freezes, the caustic soda concentration changes in both solid and liquid phases. Consequently, the frozen caustic soda solution should be thoroughly thawed and mixed before a sample is taken. Once thawed, the product appearance may become slightly cloudy in clarity, due to a small amount of salt precipitate that remains in suspension.
